Northwestern Elementary Mission Statement:  To Empower Students to Become Lifelong Learners!!

Northwestern School District 56-3 is located in Mellette, SD.  Our students come from six area towns and many area farms.  We have grades K-12 in one building.  Our elementary students moved into a new addition to begin the 1996-1997 school year where they have more room and a wonderful computer lab and library. 

   During the summer of 2000, a new wood floor and bleachers were put into the main gym.  Northwestern has successful academic and athletic programs.  Our Wildcats won  State "B" Boys Basketball Championships in 1989 & 1991.  The Lady Cats won a State "B" Girls Basketball Championship in 1991 and State "B" Girls Volleyball Championships in 1999, 2000, & 2001.  Our students are also awarded a number of scholarships and other academic awards each year. 

   I am proud to say that I have always been a Wildcat.  I graduated from Northwestern in 1995.  I began my teaching career at Northwestern during the 1999-2000 school year.
